Remdesivir is a broad-spectrum antiviral medication developed by the biopharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences. After Remdesivir was tested as a treatment for COVID-19, it was authorized for emergency use in the US, India, Singapore and approved for use in Japan, the EU and Australia for people with severe symptoms. Remdesivir also received approval in the UK in May 2020.
DESREM® (remdesivir) is manufactured by Mylan Laboratories Ltd in its injectable facility in Bengaluru under a special license from Gilead Sciences.
